Foundation settling into lines and pores? Four reasons
In the morning everything looks smooth; by lunchtime the foundation sits in your smile lines, under your eyes and in your pores. It happens at any age and almost always has one of four reasons.
1. Too much at once
A thick layer has more product that can collect in lines. Better to apply thinly and only build up where you need more coverage.
2. The texture doesn’t suit your skin
Very matte, full-coverage foundations emphasise dry patches and fine lines. On dry skin, lighter, radiant textures often look smoother. On oily skin, matte lasts longer.
3. Your skin had no time
If the skincare underneath is still damp, the foundation slides and collects. Wait a few minutes before you apply foundation.
4. Too much powder
Powder dries the surface and makes lines more visible. Only powder where you get shiny, usually forehead, nose and chin, and use very little under the eyes.
In short
- Thin layers, pressed in with a sponge or your fingers instead of swiped.
- Check after an hour and tap over the lines with a finger.
- Keep concealer under the eyes thin too: that’s where the skin moves most.
